"In turbulent times for financial markets, more books than usual are published on such subjects as financial crashes. This book is different. First, it is written by an internationally recognized expert in non-linear, complex systems. Second, it promotes some new ideas in both finance and science. In addition, it offers the general reader an insight into finance, both practical and academic, as well as some of the issues at the cutting edge of science.
The Roaring Twenties, the decade that followed World War I that led to the crash, was a time of wealth and excess. Building on post-war optimism, rural Americans migrated to the cities in vast numbers throughout the decade with the hopes of finding a more prosperous life in the ever-growing expansion of America's industrial sector. While the American cities prospered, the overproduction of agricultural produce created widespread financial despair among American farmers throughout the decade. This would later be blamed as one of the key factors that led to the 1929 stock market crash.
I don’t think you are wrong about Trump winning the Presidency. He is very close in the polls and the Clinton’s who totally control the media have faked the polls to show she is winning (came out in Wikileaks), but she isn’t. All their corruption is coming to light through WikiLeaks, disgruntled FBI agents, and alternative media investigative journalism. Moreover, the astronomical increase in the cost of health premiums under ObamaCare is turning tons of people away from Clinton. The only way she could win is by rigging big time the elections, but Trump supporters have organized an army of people to address the rigging.

People trading stock will prefer to trade on the most popular exchange since this gives the largest number of potential counter parties (buyers for a seller, sellers for a buyer) and probably the best price. However, there have always been alternatives such as brokers trying to bring parties together to trade outside the exchange. Some third markets that were popular are Instinet, and later Island and Archipelago (the latter two have since been acquired by Nasdaq and NYSE, respectively). One advantage is that this avoids the commissions of the exchange. However, it also has problems such as adverse selection. Financial regulators are probing dark pools.
It’s my feeling that we are still in the midst of this crisis, and haven’t seen the worst of it, but it will turn around over the next couple of years. In terms of the bottoming out, if I were looking just at the aspects I’d have to say as an astrologer that the worst still will be the end of December into January when Pluto hits that 1 degree mark. And again when Pluto retrogrades back to that point at different points in 2009. However, as a psychic, I also know that charts are not always 100 accurate, so timing isn’t always exact because of this, and the intense urgency about the market I felt back in September has abated. I’m not sure if this is because we’re already in it, and I’ve gotten used to the energy, or if we really have seen the biggest drop we’re going to feel by comparison of where it was to begin with.
I predict action with Iran and North Korea will make news. Looks like peace-deal being worked on in Iran but the US will be at war with Iran this year in a way similar to Gulf War. Iran will be destroyed militarily by US and UK. North Korea uses the situation as chance to pull something but they find out US can fight 3 major wars at the same time if needed. Korea will soon be united as the North falls after a war in next 36 months. Cuba tends to try to avoid openness again a short time then all clears and US business-people will be going there to start building projects as Cuba becomes tourism centre of Tropics. I also predict that Russia invades another nation late summer then has to pull out. (Abridged by editor as post far too long)
Regarding Trump, he will become ‘ill’, through stress. It seems to more of A mental health issue. I don’t think it will happen until the end of next year. He will become increasingly agoraphobic withdrawing to the Trump residences. I always saw Obama as the last properly elected President Of the United States. Increasingly and necessarily States will become self-governing as well as small independent communities.
In 2014, Henry Blodget wrote that stocks were 40% overvalued and that he couldn’t find any data to suggest that the market would continue rising. Although he didn’t state that a crash was coming, he did tell us that stocks were likely to give “lousy returns” over the next ten years. He also concluded his article with some technical analysis from John Hussman, which cautioned that the S&P 500 could collapse after it reached 1,900.
Hi, for two weeks now I’ve been getting a sense that something massive is going to happen in September 2014. I get a picture of the northern polar ice-cap, and, polar movement. NASA knows about the polar movement. I feel this coming event is natural not man caused. Also, I’m getting it will be even more intense than the sea-bed quake and tsunami of 2004. I feel the north pole would be better avoided in September 2014. Is anyone else getting anything similar?
Early in February, I wrote on my personal Facebook page that on February 11, 2018, there would be a Sun -Jupiter square transit that is connected to the market astrophysics, and, more specifically, the stock market crash 2018. This transit usually brings market depression or reversal of direction in the period starting anywhere between 10 days BEFORE this aspect and a day or so AFTER the aspect. In fact, the October 2008 and 1962 crashes occurred exactly when Sun squared Jupiter.
Unfortunately we are going to the brink of serious global conflict, but it will be okay in the end. I was very unhappy with Trump’s timing of the North Korea/South Korea ‘peace’ talks as he did it on Mercury Retrograde, exactly the same cycle that Chamberlain appeased Hitler. What we have to trust and hope for is the mini Age of Aquarius which comes from Christmas 2019 when people power and one-world thinking will prevail. What you need to remember about 1935 is the anti-Semitism too. We just saw this in Britain and it affected this week’s elections, working against the Labour party. So, history really does repeat. Take a look at Tesla and Mr. Musk. That’s my big tip. Their charts show exact matches in late Scorpio and Jupiter (abundance) is headed there, later this year.
However, we do life in less-than-traditional times – the effects of the extraordinary monetary policies that the Fed undertook in response to the recession are still working their way though the system, so despite the fact that it’s been almost a decade since the last recession, we quite likely still have room to run. A very wise man once told me that “the bull market [when stocks fairly aggressively go up] doesn’t end when the Fed raises rates, the bull market ends when the Fed STOPS raising rates.” Chairwoman Yellen & Co. have only just begun lifting off the proverbial gas pedal from the Great Recession, and my guess, as well as that of many others, is that we have a ways to go before a full on crash next occurs.
I’m from South Africa. I had a dream about me coming from work (Before I even had any knowledge of working at my current workplace). As I was driving home (on the road I am taking now), I saw fireballs falling from the sky and had only one burning desire – to get home. My dream was so disturbing that I woke myself in order to stop it. This is a recurring dream.
The trouble began a week ago in the West, where in the early evening a single grain of sand fell on a portion of our pile that was already very steep. This triggered a small avalanche, as a few grains toppled downhill toward the East. Unfortunately, the pile hasn’t been managed properly in the West, and these few grains entered into another region of the pile that was also already steep. Soon more grains toppled and throughout the night the avalanche grew in size; by the next morning, it was well out of control. In retrospect, there is nothing surprising. One fateful grain falling a week ago led to a chain of events that swept catastrophe across the pile and into our own backyard here in the East. Had the Western authorities been more responsible, they could have removed some sand from the initial spot, and then none of this would have happened. It is a tragedy that we can only hope will never be repeated."
Like my maverick 88 nice smooth action just a good basic shotty. Takes 3 inch loads I think that’s overkill though but hey if I come across some during a shortage it will work. Would like to get a 590 though but the 88 is sufficient as it will mostly pull guard duty in the house so it won’t see rough conditions. Grew sweet potatoes this year gonna have 30lbs or more come harvest time. My garden and fruit trees produce so much I don’t buy produce anymore just meats grains juices really. I don’t hunt but might this year got me a decent crossbow and the shotgun of course there is no rifle hunting around here. Have a buddy who used to be a butcher and hunts and processes all his own meat. I’m fond of back strap and sausage.
Jump up ^ The concept of the bourse (or the exchange) was 'invented' in the medieval Low Countries (most notably in predominantly Dutch-speaking cities like Bruges and Antwerp) before the birth of formal stock exchanges in the 17th century. Until the early 1600s, a bourse was not exactly a stock exchange in its modern sense. With the founding of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in 1602 and the rise of Dutch capital markets in the early 17th century, the 'old' bourse (a place to trade commodities, government and municipal bonds) found a new purpose – a formal exchange that specialize in creating and sustaining secondary markets in the securities (such as bonds and shares of stock) issued by corporations – or a stock exchange as we know it today.

It is not a big surprise, however, that many investors today remain interested in the forecasts of financial analysts regardless of their success. Humans in the past consulted oracles, crystal balls and tea leaves. It’s in our nature: As the proverb goes, “tell me a fact, and I'll learn; tell me a truth, and I’ll believe; but tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever.” We are attracted to story-telling, and when it comes to investing we seem to be searching for the most compelling narratives about the unknowable future, regardless of how accurate they turn out to be.
Why might a central bank underreact? It might not detect a shift in mood until it is too late, particularly if hard data across the economy look strong. It might not wish to be seen to be beholden to markets: willing to slash rates or take other action the moment stock indexes slip (particularly if the personnel making monetary-policy decisions are relatively new to their roles and keen to establish their independence). It might even welcome a bit of a droop in mood if it is concerned that growth has been too fast, unemployment too low, and inflation about to spike as a consequence.
A 'soft' EMH has emerged which does not require that prices remain at or near equilibrium, but only that market participants not be able to systematically profit from any momentary market 'inefficiencies'. Moreover, while EMH predicts that all price movement (in the absence of change in fundamental information) is random (i.e., non-trending), many studies have shown a marked tendency for the stock market to trend over time periods of weeks or longer. Various explanations for such large and apparently non-random price movements have been promulgated. For instance, some research has shown that changes in estimated risk, and the use of certain strategies, such as stop-loss limits and value at risk limits, theoretically could cause financial markets to overreact. But the best explanation seems to be that the distribution of stock market prices is non-Gaussian (in which case EMH, in any of its current forms, would not be strictly applicable).
To illustrate this we have included the TED spread which is a good stress indicator for credit and currency markets. That’s where turmoil always starts before it trickles down to other parts of global markets like for instance stock markets. It is “the difference between the interest rates on interbank loans and on short-term U.S. government debt.” TED is an acronym formed from T-Bill and ED, the ticker symbol for the Eurodollar futures contract. It incorporates both interest rates and currency stress. But as seen on below up-to-date chart there is no stress whatsoever.

(12) Asteroid hitting earth. There is a possibility of an asteroid or comet hitting earth within a few years, since it is described in Revelation 8. This is why an asteroid defense is needed, which NASA could build if they were funded to do so. These King James Bible Code matrices indicate there could be an asteroid ocean hit in 2018-2019, the asteroid breaking up into 7 pieces in the atmosphere as it hits, so 7 impacts, and a giant tidal wave resulting that floods coastal cities. This could be the "seven thunders" of Revelation 10:3:
Indeed, after learning your trading would be lot more better. As, you understand the dynamics of the market and learn to analyze and make trading decisions after completing the course. You’ll also learn which company is good which is bad! Are these stock overvalued? When our market is bullish or bearish? Your entry and exit in stock market will improve a lot.
I posted as Guest Blog Entry at the Married (with Debt) blog yesterday. It's called The Buy-and-Hold Myth. Juicy Excerpt: In the used-car market, the price of the car being sold is the result of a battle waged between the car seller and the car buyer. The seller wants a high price. The buyer wants a low one. Each side has to give something or risk seeing the negotiation fall through. The end result of the battle is usually a price that is more or less right. The car-selling market…
Hi Jessica, another interesting article! Thank you for sharing your wisdom so generously. I have 6 factors in Scorpio and 2 factors in Taurus. I am currently working for a small bank that has been taken over by a foreign investor last year. Do you think the imminent Uranus in Taurus will bring sudden change to my work or financial situation? My wife has been very into cryptocurrency and equity investments since last year. After reading your articles, she thinks that I should be the one to do the investments because of my Stellium in Scorpio. Do you think she is right? Your insights to my horoscope patterns and my future will be much appreciated. Thank you!

The Federal Reserve calls itself “independent,” but it is independent only of government. It marches to the drums of the banks that are its private owners. To prevent another Great Recession or Great Depression, Congress needs to amend the Federal Reserve Act, nationalize the Fed, and turn it into a public utility, one that is responsive to the needs of the public and the economy.
Jack Cohen, the son of Jewish migrants from Poland, founded Tesco in 1919 when he began to sell war-surplus groceries from a stall at Well Street Market, Hackney, in the East End of London. The Tesco brand first appeared in 1924. The name came about after Jack Cohen bought a shipment of tea from Thomas Edward Stockwell. He made new labels using the initials of the supplier's name (TES), and the first two letters of his surname (CO), forming the word TESCO. After experimenting with his first permanent indoor market stall at Tooting in November 1930, Jack Cohen opened the first Tesco shop in September 1931 at 54 Watling Street, Burnt Oak, Edgware, Middlesex. Tesco was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1947 as Tesco Stores (Holdings) Limited. The first self-service shop opened in St Albans in 1956 (which remained operational until 2010 before relocating to larger premises on the same street, with a period as a Tesco Metro), and the first supermarket in Maldon in 1956. In 1961 Tesco Leicester made an appearance in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest shop in Europe.
Tesco launched its customer loyalty scheme, the Tesco Clubcard, in 1995. It has been cited as a pivotal development in Tesco's progress towards becoming the UK's largest supermarket chain and one that fundamentally changed the country's supermarket business. Tesco itself was cited in a Wall Street Journal article as using the intelligence from the Clubcard to thwart Wal-Mart's initiatives in the UK.
I've posted Entry #2 to my weekly column at the Balance Junkie site. It's titled Why We Are Afraid to Acknowledge the True Cause of the Economic Crisis. Juicy Except: My boys (Timothy, age 12, and Robert, age 9) and I were watching a DVD of the old television series I’ll Fly Away a few days ago. The series tells the story of the civil rights struggle of the early 1960s and how it affected the people of a small town in South Carolina. There’s one scene that we watched that I believe…
Other scientists disagree with this notion, and note that market crashes are indeed “special.” Professor Didier Sornette, for example, a physicist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, argued that a market crash is not simply a scaled-up version of a normal down day but a true outlier to market behavior. In fact, he claims that ahead of critical points the market starts giving off some clues. His work focuses on interpreting these clues and identify when a bubble may be forming and, crucially, when it ends.
So when you hear of predictions that may be worrying, remember that the psychic’s unconscious mind may get things right but may also be painting a blacker picture than what will really happen. I really do believe that the times we are going through now and in the near-future are actually a prelude to the beginning of a better age when people of good character rule the world and individuals attain a higher level of consciousness, understanding, and compassion. The Golden Age will dawn within us and for many, it is already happening.
I've posted a Guest Blog Entry at the Free From Broke site called How to Change Your Stock Allocation in Response to Valuation Shifts. Juicy Excerpt: Stock valuations do not jump randomly from super-low levels to super-high levels. They change gradually over a 30-year or 35-year time period. They start at super-low levels, move to fair-value levels, continue moving up until they reach insanely high levels, and then crash hard. We are today at a P/E10 of 21, working our way down from…
The Returns Sequence Reality CheckerWe all root for price gains in the stock market. Should we? This calculator says “no!” Today’s price increase lowers tomorrow’s price increase. This has been so for the entire history of the market. So the question is whether you should want to pay more for stocks now or later. You are far better off paying more later because that means you get to acquire more gain-producing goodness earlier in life and thus you will enjoy more compounding return magic. This one will blow your mind. It’s a very simple concept but a highly counter-intutive one and one that will someday soon change how we all think about stock investing.
I just wonder if the revolutions in countries in the Middle East could bring them closer to Russia and Putin the Antichrist. Perhaps this will lead to the Middle East War described in Ezekiel and also Revelation 16 as Armageddon, that it could be an alliance of Middle East and North Africa countries that will form a military alliance with Russia led by the Antichrist Putin. What Middle Eastern countries will next see revolution? Where will these revolutions lead? It could work out well, with peaceful democracies in these countries. On the other hand, the French Revolution resulted in a bloodbath in France, and a monstrous dictator Napoleon who resulted in war across Europe. And the Russian Revolution resulted in the Soviet Union, and millions murdered by Stalin. So revolutions can work out well like the American Revolution did, but sometimes they don't. War in the Middle East could result from these changes, the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse War riding in 2018-2019. And if political unrest comes to Pakistan, with all its nuclear weapons, that could be a major concern. Also watch out for: North Korea attacking South Korea, or war in the Middle East.

In the 1920’s, banks were opening up at the rate of 4 to 5 per day. There were few federal restrictions to determine start up capital needed to start up a new bank or how much of its reserve it could lend. As a result, most of these banks were highly insolvent. Banks were closing at the rate of 2 a day between 1923 and 1929. Then as banks moved to invest heavily in the stock market, this proved to be a disaster when the market crashed. By 1932, 40% of all banks were wiped out.
Commodities are crashing the fastest; so they’re likely to turn around early. They’re driven more by emerging countries, which are big commodity producers, versus developed countries. I like industrial and precious metals, including gold, silver and platinum, because they’re scarce. They’ll outperform. You can’t just farm them like you can cows and pigs and corn and wheat, [for which] you can always expand into more land. But there’s only so much gold, platinum and other metals. I’m big on gold after it crashes.
During the mid- to late 1920s, the stock market in the United States underwent rapid expansion. It continued for the first six months following President Herbert Hoover’s inauguration in January 1929. The prices of stocks soared to fantastic heights in the great “Hoover bull market,” and the public, from banking and industrial magnates to chauffeurs and cooks, rushed to brokers to invest their surplus or their savings in securities, which they could sell at a profit. Billions of dollars were drawn from the banks into Wall Street for brokers’ loans to carry margin accounts. The spectacles of the South Sea Bubble and the Mississippi Bubble had returned. People sold their Liberty Bonds and mortgaged their homes to pour their cash into the stock market. In the midsummer of 1929 some 300 million shares of stock were being carried on margin, pushing the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a peak of 381 points in September. Any warnings of the precarious foundations of this financial house of cards went unheeded.

The P/E ratio of the S&P-500 is over 25, something that has only happened three times in history, once during the 1890s, once somewhat before 2000, and once somewhat after 2000. Can’t recall what the big crises was in the 1890s, but in 2001 or so the NASDAQ collapsed, losing about 75% of its value. It has only recently, in unadjusted dollars, surpassed its pre-crash highs.
