Sadly, that prediction came true to the letter as there was a deadly 4.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Ischia on the 21st August 2017. This prediction hit home as my daughter and her young family were in Naples and had considered a day trip to Ischia on that day. Fortunately, they were okay though sadly Ischia saw a lot of destruction and deaths. Perhaps my personal connection allowed me to make this correct prophecy.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. Yes, strangely enough identity and security systems software are part of my job! Also, financial freedom is indeed shaping up to be a major focus. I am prepared to deal with change and unknowns over the next few years. Do you have any further thoughts on how to deal with that tricky Uranus opposing Uranus? It sounds worrying. My recent Saturn return was very tough and challenging, and I hope it won’t be anything like that. Thanks again.
In the US specifically, lawmakers have constrained the ability of the Fed to provide liquidity to non-bank and foreign financial institutions with dollar-denominated liabilities. And in Europe, the rise of populist parties is making it harder to pursue EU-level reforms and create the institutions necessary to combat the next financial crisis and downturn.
I’ve posted Entry #418 to my weekly Valuation-Informed Indexing column at the Value Walk site. It’s called The Shiller Revolution Is About Shifting the Focus from Economics to Emotions. Juicy Excerpt: The Shiller investor would have been frightened by those gains. He would not have seen them as something to celebrate; he would likely have characterized them as “out of control.” All investors want the market to be as rational as possible; we have our retirement money invested in it. The difference, though, is that Buy-and-Holders see nothing concerning about big price gains — they are caused by economic developments as much as are small gains. Valuation-Informed Indexers, in contrast, see bull-market gains as emotion-generated gains. Times of high valuations are times of irrational exuberance. The times in which the market delivers big gains are the most dangerous times for stock investors. He’d say that Trump had a brilliant strategy for getting elected because he used to tell me that it’s not the middle class that decides elections — it’s the All Star Wrestling fans, the 15% to 20% clueless, bigoted, narrow-minded, dumbest people in the country, who are easily influenced. Those are the people who have been most pissed off in recent decades because their wages and earning power have been falling as a result of foreign and immigrant workers. Trump [targeted] them squarely and won them by [a margin of] about 80%.
I've posted a Guest Blog Entry at the Free Money Wisdom site. It's called You Need to Change How You Think About Stock Investing. Juicy Excerpt: If we assume that stocks will continue to perform in the future somewhat as they always have in the past (that is, that we will see a long-term return of something in the neighborhood of 6.5 percent real), we are all a LOT better off if stock prices fall 50 percent next year than we are if they rise 50 percent next year. $2,106,761. That’s what…
What about the everyday investors who don’t have access to Sornette’s computational skills? The lesson is straightforward: as markets rise, and especially as they rise sharply, so does the danger of a crash. As they watch a sharp rise, investors should reduce their equity positions to capture gains made so far and limit the danger to their portfolios.

The "T" in my name was at the "t" in "stranger". You will see on this site that I am one of the millions of American Christian supporters of Israel. And also, concerning this web site, this New Testament King James Bible Code matrix, at John 14:23 - Revelation 7:9, was found by searching for REVELATION THIRTEEN (since "Revelation13.net" is the name of this web site), my name TCHASE, and also note in this matrix there is: WEB (as in web site), AND WE HAVE SEEN, LOOKING FOR THAT BLESSED HOPE, THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD, TO SPEAK UNTO THE PEOPLE, THEY TOOK KNOWLEDGE, BE REVEALED, THE TRUTH. I think these words describe what this web site Revelation13.net is about. John 8:32: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free".

Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently posted to the discussion thread for another blog entry at this site: Your analogy is flawed, not to mention stupid, not to mention horribly insulting to sexual assault victims. Cosby’s victims really did do all they could. You haven’t. You could create new accounts on every single board you were banned from TODAY. You could start writing your next book TODAY. You could start making a difference TODAY. No one is stopping you. You simply choose not to. As you should have realized by now, society doesn’t have much sympathy for someone who chooses to be a helpless victim. I’m not willing to create new accounts. If I did that, would I use my real name or not? If I used my real name, I would just be banned again. If I didn’t, I would essentially be lying. I would be appearing at a board that banned me under another name, knowing that I would be banned if I appeared under my true name. Huh? What the f? I have done nothing to justify a ban. Not once. I have nothing to be ashamed of. I have helped people. I have pointed out the errors in the Buy-and-Hold retirement studies. People need to know about those errors. A failed retirement is a serious life setback. I am happy to lend my efforts to any board that will have me and where I can help out. But I don’t approve of games-playing re these matters. I am Rob Bennett. I pointed out the error in the Buy-and-Hold retirement studies in a post that I put to the Motley Fool board on early retirement on the morning of May 13, 2002. The post generated a huge reaction, some insanely positive and some insanely negative. I am happy to answer any questions that anyone has, both those advanced by my supporters and those advanced by my critics. But I am not interested in pretending to be someone other than who I am. I am the fellow who put forward that famous post, I am proud of it, and I see no reason to make an effort to appear anywhere under another name. I hope that helps a small bit, my dear Goon friend. Many of the video courses on this platform charge an enrollment fee, but there is a small collection of free options, including Fundamentals of Investing, taught by a chartered financial analyst, and Basic Investing Concepts, led by a certified financial planner. Both courses offer over an hour of content that will help novice investors get off the ground.

What on earth could be responsible for such optimism? After all, the oft-repeated adage that Trump’s tax cuts have been feeding the bulls on Wall Street has run its course. The tax cuts have not been approved and with the divide in Congress—a divide also within Republicans themselves—there’s little chance of the major reductions occurring. Moreover, the U.S. debt now exceeds $20.0 trillion.

That said, professionals tend to be snobby about “sun sign” horoscopes. They use more complex “natal charts” that diagram the exact position of the sun, moon, and planets in relation to one another at the exact time and place of a person’s birth. Each planet signifies certain things (Jupiter means winning!) based largely on the angles at which it interfaces with other planets. Weingarten tells me I would need to study astrology for four years—“maybe three, with computers”—to grasp what’s going on up there. Astrology may be a pseudoscience, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to learn.
Jacob at the My Personal Finance Journey blog has posted a blog entry tiled Valuation-Informed Indexing vs. Passive Investing: Which Is Better? Juicy Excerpt #1: While Valuation-Informed Index Investing may have outperformed passive investing in most previous historical periods, evidence of it not performing as well in recent years is enough to keep me as a passive investor, at least until VII is refined. Regarding Trump, he will become ‘ill’, through stress. It seems to more of A mental health issue. I don’t think it will happen until the end of next year. He will become increasingly agoraphobic withdrawing to the Trump residences. I always saw Obama as the last properly elected President Of the United States. Increasingly and necessarily States will become self-governing as well as small independent communities.

In this chart Uranus is on the 8/9th house cusp hitting that midpoint of natal Jupiter/Neptune. Now if this is the real chart it seems like the market will stay supressed longer as Uranus will stay on that point for awhile. Transiting Mercury is close to the cusp of the 6th. All the same planetary configurations still apply only the houses are slightly different. And this one seems a lot worse as transiting Pluto is going through the 5th of gambling and making the applying T-Square. So let’s look at the US CS chart and see if we can tell just how bad this really is right now in that chart.
Venus will enter Virgo sign on 1st and will remain under the aspect of Saturn. Silver, Cine, Media, IT and Jewellery sector stocks will be in demand. Retrograde Mercury will set in the West and thereby will give Bullish impact on the stocks of FMCG, Silver, Cotton, Banking and Insurance sector stocks. ITC, Marico, Britannia, MMTC, State Bank of India and Yes bank are likely to be the beneficiaries. Sun will enter Leo sign on 17th and will be under the aspect of Mars. The demand of Gold and Silver will start increasing and thereby will bring smile on the lips of the Bulls. The stocks of Red chillies, Tobacco and Herbal plants will also see upsurge in demand. The stocks of ITC, Kaveri seeds, Vinati organics and Zuari agri will rise. The rates of vegetable oils will rise, whereas Butter will decline. The Bulls will hesitate to participate wholeheartedly in the stock market

I recently wrote a Guest Blog Entry for the My Journey to Millions blog. It's called The More You Know About Investing, the Less You Know About Investing. Juicy Excerpt: The experts can learn new things faster than I can. They have all sorts of tools available to them to keep up with developments in the field. They’re driving 90 miles per hour while I’m poking along at 25. Still, I possess an edge. I’m driving at a far slower speed but in the right direction. It makes a…
In the United Kingdom Tesco offers financial services through Tesco Bank, formerly a 50:50 joint venture with The Royal Bank of Scotland. Products on offer include credit cards, loans, mortgages, savings accounts and several types of insurance, including car, home, life and travel. They are promoted by leaflets in Tesco's shops and through its website. The business made a profit of £130 million for the 52 weeks to 24 February 2007, of which Tesco's share was £66 million. This move towards the financial sector diversified the Tesco brand and provides opportunities for growth outside of the retailing sector. On 28 July 2008, Tesco announced that they would buy out the Royal Bank of Scotland's 50% stake in the company for £950 million.[77]
Hi Craig. Thanks for your predictions for 2018. As a UK’er now living in Australia I would like more on Australia if possible. I also wanted to comment on the ‘strikes in the UK’ that you said was not good as it is disruptive. Well sometimes disruption is necessary because many people are suffering. Yes I do my best to be kind and send out positive thoughts / feelings and follow a spiritual path, but as we are embodied conscious beings and many people are in dire straits due to the greed of a few – doesn’t some form of action need to be taken? And as wage slaves, withdrawal of labor is the obvious option. People often only strike because they are in dire need and a strike is the only way they can afford to alert the powers-that-be that something MUST change. On a personal level I have withdrawn my support from the “buy, buy, buy” mantra and live as simply as I can within this society, but when the basics such as food and shelter become unaffordable and urgent for individuals more needs to be done by all of us to honor our embodied spirit (our bodies as temples wherein we worship the divine) as well as the natural world in the wider cosmos. As an astrologer I feel the spiritual energy of Uranus, which is disruptive and brings rapid change is equally valid as the peaceful path don’t you think?
Beginning in 1997 when Terry Leahy took over as CEO, Tesco began marketing itself using the phrase "The Tesco Way" to describe the company's core purposes, values, principles, and goals[101] This phrase became the standard marketing speak for Tesco as it expanded domestically and internationally under Leahy's leadership, implying a shift by the company to focus on people, both customers and employees.[102]

It’s not clear how much money Weingarten has made for his clients. At its peak, he says, the Astrologers Fund managed “under $25 million” for “under 10” clients. Some years, he says, the fund returned 100 percent; some years, “less.” A few years ago he stopped accepting new investors and began managing his own money exclusively. On a page labeled Disclaimer on his outmoded, space-themed website (“done in 2000 by a friend of mine who did porn websites”), he lists payments over the years from consulting clients, including natural resources companies, penny stocks, and—inevitably—a cryptocurrency startup.
La plus grande opportunité depuis 2008, c’était d’investir en 2009, en 2010, puis en 2011, 2012,2013, 2014 etc… il y a eu un crash monumental en 2008. Tout a au moins doublé depuis ce qui donne l’impression qu’on est de bons investisseurs mais…. un jour ou l’autre la tendance s’inversera et comme le dit Warren Buffett, « we’ll see who’s swimming naked when the tide goes out ».
The Bennett/Pfau Research Showing Middle-Class Investors How to Reduce the Risk of Stock Investing by 70 PercentYou do not have to take on a large amount of risk to obtain good returns. Why should you? When you buy an index fund, you are buying a tin share in the productivity of the U.S. economy. The U.S. economy has been sufficiently productive to support an average annual stock return of 6.5 percent real for 140 years now. So that’s what you can expect if you invest in a sensible way. But you are not being sensible if you follow a Buy-and-Hold strategy. You MUST consider price when buying stocks just as much as you must consider price when buying anything else. This is the most important investing research published in 30 years. It frees all of us from dependence on Wall Street “experts.”
Last time I spoke about right-wing riots in Germany. This too has happened and will continue to get worse through 2018. There will continue to be a cultural division within Germany and France and they will see worsening racial troubles and riots ahead. (CORRECT 10/10 Riots in Germany see 27th August “Guardian protests in the eastern city of Chemnitz” )
Genuis and DK: Ten dollar bills and twenties’s mainly and some hundred dollar bills in a house safe. good idea: pvc pipe with currency stashed under other pipe, like in the shed. make sure there are end caps to keep bugs out. Lots of canned sardines, spam, salmon, beans, chicken, canned veggies, etc. None of this long term crap that is loaded with sodium and fillers. After I’ve taken money out of my account, more is deposited from retirement/brokerage accounts soon after, and I have to repeat the cycle again. Many can relate to this endless cycle.
Jump up ^ Sylla, Richard (2015). "Financial Development, Corporations, and Inequality". (BHC-EBHA Meeting). As Richard Sylla (2015) notes, "In modern history, several nations had what some of us call financial revolutions. These can be thought of as creating in a short period of time all the key components of a modern financial system. The first was the Dutch Republic four centuries ago."

The latest swoon, which knocked the S&P 500 down more than 3 percent Wednesday, signaled to many Wall Street pros that the decline was entering a new, more dangerous phase. There’s growing concern now that this decline is more than a garden variety pullback, or drop of 5 percent to 9.99 percent, and could morph into a drop of 10 percent of more for the broad market.

Some others have commented that his predictions have not all worked out. This is all discussed at length in the book; in such a field predictions are not infallible. About 40% of market crashes are caused by external events and so are not predictable. However he seems to have the S&P500 worked out. Last years he predicted a choppy rally in 1Q2003, then from 2Q2003 a major fall ending in 1h2004. So far so good.

Sornette probes major historical precedents, from the decades-long "tulip mania" in the Netherlands that wilted suddenly in 1637 to the South Sea Bubble that ended with the first huge market crash in England in 1720, to the Great Crash of October 1929 and Black Monday in 1987, to cite just a few. He concludes that most explanations other than cooperative self-organization fail to account for the subtle bubbles by which the markets lay the groundwork for catastrophe.
Is this going to be another October to remember for Wall Street?  As I have explained previously, the month of October has historically been the worst month by far for the U.S. stock market, and it has also been the month when our most famous stock market crashes have taken place. The stock market crash that started the Great Depression in 1929 happened in October.  The largest single day percentage decline in stock market history happened in October 1987.  And most of us still remember what happened in October 2008.  So will we be adding October 2018 to that list?  Well, so far things are certainly moving in that direction.  Between Wednesday and Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged a total of 1,378 points.  And the S&P 500 has now broken below the all-important 200-day moving average.  If the S&P 500 bounces back above the 200-day moving average on Friday, that will be a sign that things have stabilized at least for the moment.  If that doesn’t happen, all hell might break loose next week.

Bernanke said in March 2007 that the sub-prime mortgage mess could be “contained.” And Greenspan famously inveighed against the stock market’s “irrational exuberance” in 1996. If you listened to him then and exited stocks, you would rue your decision: The market had a fabulous run for the next four years. Rogers is a perma-bear about domestic stocks, who has been downbeat since the 1980s (he is famously enthusiastic about emerging markets, though).
