Financial innovation has brought many new financial instruments whose pay-offs or values depend on the prices of stocks. Some examples are exchange-traded funds (ETFs), stock index and stock options, equity swaps, single-stock futures, and stock index futures. These last two may be traded on futures exchanges (which are distinct from stock exchanges—their history traces back to commodity futures exchanges), or traded over-the-counter. As all of these products are only derived from stocks, they are sometimes considered to be traded in a (hypothetical) derivatives market, rather than the (hypothetical) stock market.

His biggest worry is the bond market, which he fears rising inflation will smash, with dire consequences. He made these remarks in January, on Bloomberg Television. Since then, the bond market is indeed in negative territory, although its fall hasn’t been precipitous. Inflation has nudged up, yet at a thus-far tame pace. The big worry is an inverted yield curve, where the two-year Treasury yields more than the 10-year, an infallible portent of recession.

Of course your sister works in a bank – Mars in Taurus is suited to that. Uranus will not cross her Mars completely until 2019 so she has time, but essentially everything from climate change, to new banks, to new government rules, to devaluation of currency (and of course cryptocurrency) is going to sweep her world, very quickly. She can make this work for her but she’s going to have to be in the first wave.
In one paper the authors draw an analogy with gambling.[61] In normal times the market behaves like a game of roulette; the probabilities are known and largely independent of the investment decisions of the different players. In times of market stress, however, the game becomes more like poker (herding behavior takes over). The players now must give heavy weight to the psychology of other investors and how they are likely to react psychologically.
These writings have a hidden (occult) spiritual meaning. For example (according to Edgar Cayce) the seven churches and the seven seals represent the seven spiritual centers (i.e., chakras) of the body where the physical, mental and spiritual forces all come together. The four beasts are the four lower spiritual centers’ animalistic desires and the twenty-four elders are the twenty-four nerves from a person’s brain leading to his five senses… The body is symbolized as a book with seven seals which “no one has the ability to open on his own” (Revelation 5:3) etc.
So, when will the stock market crash again? There is no way to accurately predict a bear market. The FAANG stocks (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google) have led the bull market over the last 9 years. If these stocks fail to keep their earnings momentum going, investors may lose confidence in the market. So far only Facebook and Netflix have disappointed investors, while Apple remains as strong as ever.
The answer was simple – don’t explain the meme, but categorise it. After a meme is approved on the market, it is split into one of three categories: penny stocks (low-end, unpopular memes), text-based memes, and image based memes. Of course, this system is not without its flaws – some memes could easily fit into multiple categories, but it seems to work.
The 1987 Crash was a worldwide phenomenon. The FTSE 100 Index lost 10.8% on that Monday and a further 12.2% the following day. In the month of October, all major world markets declined substantially. The least affected was Austria (a fall of 11.4%) while the most affected was Hong Kong with a drop of 45.8%. Out of 23 major industrial countries, 19 had a decline greater than 20%.[28]
In May 2008, when crude oil had broken through $100 a barrel, Merriman astrologically predicted—on the record—that it would top out at $144 (give or take $8) before plummeting within two years. Then he said it would decline, somewhere between 77 percent and 93 percent.) Goldman Sachs Group Inc., by contrast, thought crude could hit $200 a barrel, and traditional energy economists at Deutsche Bank AG were stupefied by the confusing market dynamics. Sure enough, crude hit $147.27 on July 11, 2008 and slid to $32.48 five months later.

Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen as a group of market stalls.[9] The Tesco name first appeared in 1924, after Cohen purchased a shipment of tea from T. E. Stockwell and combined those initials with the first two letters of his surname,[10] and the first Tesco shop opened in 1931 in Burnt Oak, Barnet.[11][12][13] His business expanded rapidly, and by 1939 he had over 100 Tesco shops across the country.[14]
NR, still stacking myself. Picked up some more .22 and .30 Carbine at the last gun show a month ago. My next big purchase is a new 12-ga. pump, Mossberg 500 or 590. 6 cords of wood are stacked at the BOL now. My cousin just got finished replacing the batteries for the solar system and installed a new Flojak hand pump for the well. Still have the creek out back as a backup source of water. What I have left to move now is just enough to fill up the truck for bugout. The woodstove at the cabin was just replaced 2 years ago along with the pipe. Cabin was totally remodeled 3 years ago. everything is in top condition there. Bugout time can’t come soon enough for me.

Market crashes are far more common in our imagination than in reality. This is because they are vivid and scary events. Given our evolution, we are wired to worry about these sorts of vivid events. While, this may have been useful in helping us avoid getting eaten by tigers, it's less useful for rational, disciplined stock market investing. By thinking this topic through now, hopefully you're a little better prepared when the next crash hits.
However I am anxious about the upcoming changes in may. We went ‘sale agreed’ on a house last week and are in a 6-8 week long process of buying a family home. My husband 11/03/73 bought a tiny house at the height of the Celtic tiger which has been a great burden financially and it was finally looking like we would be able to move to a modest 3 bed and settle down with our five year old ( he is mad to finally get a pet! And I can’t wait to have a garden)
Other important economic barometers were also slowing or even falling by mid-1929, including car sales, house sales, and steel production. The falling commodity and industrial production may have dented even American self-confidence, and the stock market peaked on September 3 at 381.17 just after Labor Day, then started to falter after Roger Babson issued his prescient "market crash" forecast. By the end of September, the market was down 10% from the peak (the "Babson Break"). Selling intensified in early and mid October, with sharp down days punctuated by a few up days. Panic selling on huge volume started the week of October 21 and intensified and culminated on October 24, the 28th, and especially the 29th ("Black Tuesday").[26]
The latest swoon, which knocked the S&P 500 down more than 3 percent Wednesday, signaled to many Wall Street pros that the decline was entering a new, more dangerous phase. There’s growing concern now that this decline is more than a garden variety pullback, or drop of 5 percent to 9.99 percent, and could morph into a drop of 10 percent of more for the broad market.
Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently posted to the discussion thread for another blog entry at this site: Can we count on you for discussing the death threats and job threats over on this new board as well? I never lead with the death threats and the job threats. The substantive stuff is what matters most and people hate to hear about the death threats and the job threats. But as a society we have to deal with the death threats and job threats before the substantive stuff can get widely known. Shiller published his “revolutionary” (his word) research 37 years ago. The obvious question that anyone asks when someone tells them about the realities of stock investing is: “Why haven’t I heard about this before?” It’s not possible to explain the 37-year cover-up without making reference to the death threats and job threats. It’s not possible to pull something like this off without death threats and job threats. There are other things that help to explain the 37-year cover-up. Cognitive dissonance is a big one. The counter-intuitive nature of some of the realities. Just the fact that we don’t know it all. Ignorance. That’s a factor that should not be overlooked. I talk about that stuff. I don’t talk only about death threats and job threats. I never have and I never will. My job is to tell the story. Death threats and job threats are part of the story. So I will tell about them when necessary and to the extent necessary. I try not to put too much emphasis on them. Because they are not the entire story. I try to give them the right amount of attention, not too much and not too little. I wish that there had never been any death threats or job threats. But that’s not the world we live in. That’s not the reality. We don’t get fewer death threats and fewer job threats by ignoring them, by never talking about them. Ignoring them causes us to see more death threats and more job threats. I am 100 percent sure. Our problem has not been that we have talked too little about death threats and job threats. By not talking about those that have taken place, we have caused more of them to take place. Which is of course not the way that any of […]
(6) The Cassini spacecraft passed by earth on August 17, 1999, on the same day as a Grand Cross Astrology pattern, the most unusual Astrology pattern of the last 2000 years. The planets aligned in a cross shape. And that was a week after a solar eclipse over Europe. Note that Vladimir Putin became Prime Minister in Russia in August 1999, this Grand Cross and eclipse may relate to Putin's rise to power as the Antichrist, and the Cassini probe to Saturn/Satan may be a holographic parallel to Putin's rise to becoming Antichrist. Since the Cassini spacecraft landed a probe on Titan in Jan. 2005, this could be related to the rise of the Antichrist (Putin), note that Titan in Greek (the language of the Book of Revelation) totals 666, see this page on Greek.
Your MC or Midheaven is in Pisces in the Twelfth House using the Natural House system. Your vocation is an escape from the real world, so it may be the spiritual path, or the scientific one (quantum physics is an escape from reality just as meditation or astrology is). Neptune is in Sagittarius in the Ninth House so academia or religion/spirituality does seem very likely as your career or unpaid calling.
The Tesco supermarket chain is involved in litigation such as the Ward v Tesco Stores Ltd and Tesco Supermarkets Ltd v Nattrass cases. Tesco have been criticized for aggressively pursuing critics of the company in Thailand. Writer and former MP Jit Siratranont faced up to two years in jail and a £16.4 million libel damages claim for saying that Tesco was expanding aggressively at the expense of small local retailers. Tesco served him with writs for criminal defamation and civil libel. The Thai court dismissed the case, ruling that the criticism made by the defendant was 'in good faith by way of fair comment on any person or thing subjected to public criticism'.[140]

(1)1998=666x3, and 1999 has 666 upside down, and 666 is the number of the Antichrist (also called The Beast) in Revelation 13, I believe these numbers are connected with his appearance in year 2000 (as Russia's President Putin), and there will be a powerful satanic influence in the world (related to Putin) in 2018 - 2019, that relates to the rise of the Antichrist Putin. Revelation is the last chapter of the Bible, and includes a series of prophecies of catastrophic events-- wars, earthquakes, diseases, economic chaos, and the arrival of the Antichrist. Angels are also mentioned in Revelation, such as an angel from the East in Revelation 7, another Angel in Revelation 10. Many people believe the prophecies of the Bible are coming true now, as described in Revelation; the popularity of the excellent book "The Bible Code" by Michael Drosnin, (see this page for more discussion of it, and this page on the King James version Bible Code) indicates the interest of people in Bible prophecy. Another interesting book: "The Da Vinci Code", by Dan Brown, is about the Biblical-related mystery concerning Mary Magdalene, and the legend that she actually married Jesus Christ, and had children by him, whose descendants were kings of France, and that the blood line has been traced to present times by a secret society in Europe. See this page for relevant discussion on this subject. As described in the prophecies of Revelation, the Antichrist is the son of Satan, a Satanic imitation of Christ. The Antichrist will be assisted by the False Prophet, who is the Second Beast of Revelation 13. The False Prophet is said to work apparent miracles, including "bringing fire down from heaven". The Antichrist is described as having the mouth of a lion, feet of a bear, and gets his power from the dragon: the bear is Russia, the dragon is Red China and also Satan, and the mouth of a lion I think is Hong Kong, the former British colony that is now part of China. This indicates a Russia-Red China military alliance. A second meaning of the lion is Iran, where before the Islamic Revolution Iran had a Lion on its flag, indicating a Russia-China-Iran military alliance, with Russia helping Iran build the A-Bomb by helping it with its nuclear program, and Russia has been selling military equipment such as missles to Iran. The "mouth of a lion" could be Iran. Also, note that a Russia-China military alliance has formed in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which consists now of Russia, China, and 4 Central asian Countries, and which met in October 2005, and there was a Russia-China joint military exercise in 2005. Clearly the SCO was formed as an alliance against the U.S. and Western Europe. And more countries may join the SCO. The SCO may actually develop into a confederation of 10 states led by the Antichrist Putin, the red 10 horned beast of Revelation 13. Also, it is possible that Belarus may unify with Russia, so it is shown in the drawing below. "The little horn" is a name for the Antichrist from the Book of Daniel (note Putin's small size), so St. Petersburg Russia is where this little horn of the red beast has grown.

Can I guarantee this approach will lead to the best results over the long-term? Of course not. But at least you'll be following a disciplined rational strategy rather than engaging in a never-ending guessing game of trying to decide when to get out of the market (and where to put your money once you do) and then trying to figure out when to get back in. That's a game you can't consistently win.
February of 2013 I had a dream prediction that Barrack Obama would be assassinated. Specifically, the dream precognition came twice, and was one of him being deleted as on a computer screen. So the assassination part was my interpretation, not the actual dream. I didn’t understand it the first time, then it repeated and I understood it, so it didn’t have to repeat again.

Tulip Mania (in the mid-1630s) is often considered to be the first recorded speculative bubble. Historically, early stock market bubbles and crashes have also their roots in socio-politico-economic activities of the 17th-century Dutch Republic (the birthplace of the world's first formal stock exchange and market),[3][4][5][6][7] the Dutch East India Company (the world's first formally listed public company), and the Dutch West India Company (WIC/GWIC) in particular. As Stringham & Curott (2015) remarked, "Business ventures with multiple shareholders became popular with commenda contracts in medieval Italy (Greif, 2006, p. 286), and Malmendier (2009) provides evidence that shareholder companies date back to ancient Rome. Yet the title of the world's first stock market deservedly goes to that of seventeenth-century Amsterdam, where an active secondary market in company shares emerged. The two major companies were the Dutch East India Company and the Dutch West India Company, founded in 1602 and 1621. Other companies existed, but they were not as large and constituted a small portion of the stock market (Israel [1989] 1991, 109–112; Dehing and 't Hart 1997, 54; de la Vega [1688] 1996, 173)."[8]
Vanguard tracks data to predict the likelihood of a recession at certain points in the future. In recent years, the company has put the probability of a recession six months out at close to 10 percent. Now, Vanguard says the chances of one by late 2020 are between 30 and 40 percent. That’s Vanguard’s highest-ever estimate for that time frame, Mr. Davis said. (A six-month forecast reported a greater than 40 percent probability before the recession that started in December 2007.)

Although we’ve seen more recognition of cryptocurrencies as investment vehicle, they’re still considered high-risk investments. Some see Bitcoin as safe-haven in case of a global crash due to its decentralized nature, the low correlation with the stock markets and the limited supply. Though, there is no reliable data available on how cryptocurrencies behave during a stock market crash. However, if you’re willing to take the risk, adding a small percentage of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency stocks to a diversified portfolio could be a worthwhile investment decision.
In the absence of strong transit contacts to the particular first trade chart of a stock exchange or company, it is very hard indeed to discern where the market will go. In those conditions, astrology may fare no better than chance. But where close angular contacts are made between current planetary positions and those in the first trade chart, prices will follow set patterns as described by the established symbolism of the planet and angle involved. We will examine how this works in more detail below.
I recently wrote a Guest Blog Entry for the Money and Such blog entitled Why Long-Term Timing Works Even Though Short-Term Timing Doesn't. Juicy Excerpt: It turns out that those studies were misinterpreted. I mentioned that there are hundreds of studies showing that timing doesn’t work. Do you know how many of those studies examine whether long-term timing works or not? The answer is -- not one of them. All of the studies showing that timing doesn’t work examine short-term timing; they…
This new depression will be somewhere between the recession we felt of the 70s, and the 30s, but on a global scale. It won’t be barrels full of money to buy bread, but there will be tremendous unemployment and people having to change their lifestyles dramatically in some cases to get through this time. I also feel that the length and severity of this depression/recession has been greatly reduced by the election of Obama. His chart compared to that of the US constitution signing, and the Dow, and NASDAQ are good. Most of his energy regarding the markets will be spent in re-structuring them for the future good of the world’s economy.
The Daily Middle site has posted my Guest Blog Entry titled Don't Give Up on Stocks, Give Up on Buy-and-Hold. Juicy Excerpt: Middle-class investors should be setting up web sites and discussion boards and blogs where we can talk about and learn about the realities of stock investing rather than the marketing mumbo jumbo that the stock selling experts push on us. The stock selling experts won’t like it if we start figuring things out for ourselves. But you know what? in the long run, an…
In margin buying, the trader borrows money (at interest) to buy a stock and hopes for it to rise. Most industrialized countries have regulations that require that if the borrowing is based on collateral from other stocks the trader owns outright, it can be a maximum of a certain percentage of those other stocks' value. In the United States, the margin requirements have been 50% for many years (that is, if you want to make a $1000 investment, you need to put up $500, and there is often a maintenance margin below the $500).
Blind optimism over the tax cuts have led Wall Street analysts to produce a 2019 forward earnings estimate that's 46% greater than the most recent 12-month operating earnings for the S&P 500, he said. "The combination of extreme valuations and extreme earnings expectations creates a situation that's ripe for disappointment," wrote Hussman in a recent blog post on his company site.
As a case in point, I present to you subprime auto loans, or loans given to consumers with less-than-prime credit scores (usually 550 to 619 on the FICO score scale). Having a lower credit score typically gives these folks fewer lending options, which allows lenders that are willing to work with subprime consumers to charge a notably higher interest rate, relative to prime-rated consumers. The problem is these consumers usually have subpar credit scores for a reason, and delinquency rates on these subprime and deep subprime loans are shooting higher.
