However, we do life in less-than-traditional times – the effects of the extraordinary monetary policies that the Fed undertook in response to the recession are still working their way though the system, so despite the fact that it’s been almost a decade since the last recession, we quite likely still have room to run. A very wise man once told me that “the bull market [when stocks fairly aggressively go up] doesn’t end when the Fed raises rates, the bull market ends when the Fed STOPS raising rates.” Chairwoman Yellen & Co. have only just begun lifting off the proverbial gas pedal from the Great Recession, and my guess, as well as that of many others, is that we have a ways to go before a full on crash next occurs.
Unfortunately, you can’t use iTunes to find the best finance podcasts – especially when it comes to investing. Their ranking isn’t great, and some of their top-rated investing podcasts haven’t published an episode in decades. In this case, you’re far better off searching on Google and starting your search from there. Some investing podcasts of note are Radical Personal Finance, BiggerPockets and Good Financial Cents. Podcasts are especially great for audio learners or individuals who learn best by hearing the experiences of others. Their portability also makes them very accessible – listen to them on your commute, while you cook or while you clean.
As Comet Hale-Bopp peaked in April 1997, there was a fire in April 1997 in the Cathedral holding the Shroud of Turin in Italy, but the Shroud fortunately escaped damage, due to the bravery of a Turin firefighter. The Shroud of Turin is believed by many Christians to be the burial cloth of Christ. Recent carbon tests seemed to indicate it was a fake, but those tests are considered by many people to be invalid because: (1) there was bacteria growth on the cloth that invalidated the measurements (2) a previous fire in 1532 resulted in carbon deposits on the cloth that invalidated the recent carbon tests. So, the cloth could be the real burial cloth of Christ, bearing his image on it. What is interesting, is that at the time of the previous shroud fire, there were three bright comets in 3 years, in 1531-1533. And at that time, there was the greatest schism in the history of Christianity, with the Protestant Reformation of Martin Luther. The shroud was slightly damaged, but repaired, then. Maybe the three comets of 1531-1533 represented the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. So, that is why I would not be surpised if there is a third bright comet in 2018 - 2019, but this time the comets could represent the Unholy Trinity of Revelation: satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet.

Australia is in the strange position of having a Scorpio Prime Minister at the moment and a Scorpio former Prime Minister too. The leader of the Opposition is a Taurus. These two signs are opposite and Uranus about to enter Taurus suggests Canberra will be rocked in May, June 2018. This goes beyond a deep shift at the top of the two parties. It is also about Australia’s values – Taurus and Scorpio are very much about what the nation won’t sell out for. So this goes way beyond the lightning bolt of Uranus in Taurus on the world economy mid-year and into huge political questions for the nation. Scorpio, Scorpio, Taurus – you couldn’t make it up!
As of 2015, there are a total of 60 stock exchanges in the world with a total market capitalization of $69 trillion. Of these, there are 16 exchanges with a market capitalization of $1 trillion or more, and they account for 87% of global market capitalization. Apart from the Australian Securities Exchange, these 16 exchanges are based in one of three continents: North America, Europe and Asia.[4]
As we can see, the majority of planets here are listed as "neutral". That doesn't mean, however, that they have no effect on the markets. It just means that all things being equal, they do not have an intrinsic bias in regard to sentiment and prices. All planets, even the more clearly positive or negative ones, can exhibit a variety of price effects depending on the other planets and chart factors they are interacting with at any given time. Although all planets and houses possess certain natural inclinations, how they will eventually effect the market is more dependent on their temporary condition. For example, a positive planet like Venus if transiting over a malefic planet like Ketu in a malefic house like the 8th is more likely to coincide with a drop in the market. That's because the natural 'bullishness' of Venus has been corrupted, so to speak, by its temporary negative situation. Conversely, although Saturn is the planet most closely associated with pessimism and bear markets, if it forms a favourable alignment with positive aspects (e.g. 120 degrees) involving benefic planets, it often marks an upswing in prices. This is why it is crucial to take into account the whole chart rather than the motion of a single planet.
The American mobilization for World War II at the end of 1941 moved approximately ten million people out of the civilian labor force and into the war.[28] World War II had a dramatic effect on many parts of the economy, and may have hastened the end of the Great Depression in the United States.[29] Government-financed capital spending accounted for only 5 percent of the annual U.S. investment in industrial capital in 1940; by 1943, the government accounted for 67 percent of U.S. capital investment.[29]
In the next 10-15 years the  market will go through such major transformations economists/brokers/bankers and financial people won’t recognize it as the same entity it once was. I think we will see instability for a long time as the market re-organizes, and gets restructured under Pluto’s influence. Which means during this long period we may see wild fluctuations as new things become uncovered, and new laws are put in place to shore up the bleeding.

Is this going to be another October to remember for Wall Street?  As I have explained previously, the month of October has historically been the worst month by far for the U.S. stock market, and it has also been the month when our most famous stock market crashes have taken place. The stock market crash that started the Great Depression in 1929 happened in October.  The largest single day percentage decline in stock market history happened in October 1987.  And most of us still remember what happened in October 2008.  So will we be adding October 2018 to that list?  Well, so far things are certainly moving in that direction.  Between Wednesday and Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged a total of 1,378 points.  And the S&P 500 has now broken below the all-important 200-day moving average.  If the S&P 500 bounces back above the 200-day moving average on Friday, that will be a sign that things have stabilized at least for the moment.  If that doesn’t happen, all hell might break loose next week.
This is a remarkable passage because it resembles closely what one would read in an opinion-based analysis of a market event. The confusing illusion, of course, is that hindsight narratives of this kind could offer anything towards avoiding, let alone preventing, future disasters. In reality, no amount of knowledge of a sandpile system can possibly produce a usable forecast of the size and location of a major avalanche. It may be the same with a stock market crash.
October 2018 is turning out to be a lot like October 2008.  The S&P 500 has now fallen for 12 of the last 14 trading days, and it is on pace for its worst October since the last financial crisis.  But the U.S. is actually in much better shape than the rest of the world at this point.  Even though they have fallen precipitously in recent days, U.S. stocks are still up 3 percent for the year overall.  On the other hand, global stocks (excluding the U.S.) are now down more than 10 percent for the year, and they are down more than 15 percent from the peak of the market in January.  All it is going to take is a couple more really bad trading sessions to push global stocks into bear market territory.
The JPMorgan model calculates outcomes based on the length of the economic expansion, the potential duration of the next recession, the degree of leverage, asset-price valuations and the level of deregulation and financial innovation before the crisis. Assuming an average-length recession, the model came up with the following peak-to-trough performance estimates for different asset classes in the next crisis, according to the note.

I predicted the big earthquake in Japan(Fukushima) about 6 weeks before it happened. I emailed several friends saying I thought there would be a large earthquake which would be more devastating in the long run than Haiti’s earthquake and I kept having this feeling. I didn’t think it would be in America but somewhere overseas. When Japan got it I knew that was my prediction and the feeling I had went away.
In May 2008, when crude oil had broken through $100 a barrel, Merriman astrologically predicted—on the record—that it would top out at $144 (give or take $8) before plummeting within two years. Then he said it would decline, somewhere between 77 percent and 93 percent.) Goldman Sachs Group Inc., by contrast, thought crude could hit $200 a barrel, and traditional energy economists at Deutsche Bank AG were stupefied by the confusing market dynamics. Sure enough, crude hit $147.27 on July 11, 2008 and slid to $32.48 five months later.
Saturn : Saturn will transit through Sagittarius sign throughout the year. It will rise in the East on 7th January 2018. Saturn will move on to Moola 4th Pada on 24th January 2018. It enters Poorvashada 1st Pada on 2nd March 2018, where it gets Retrograde during the period between 18th April 2018 to 5th June 2018. In Retrogression, it moves to Moola 4th Pada and stays there from 6th June 2018 to 6th September 2018. It resumes Direct motion on 7th September 2018 and continues in Moola 4th Pada, till 27th November 2018. It moves through Poorvashada star from 28th November 2018 to 29th April 2019. It will set in the West on 16th December
Many of the above predictions are pretty gloomy but I feel that there will be a simultaneous growth in spirituality for the people of the world that will now start to lead us into a Golden Age. Conflict and hardship plus growing environmental problems will bring good people together and ignite a desire to seek the true purpose of human life. I feel that 2017 and 2018 are the years when miraculous spiritual things will be revealed to the world as it finally breaks the yoke of the Age of Materialism. At first just a few will witness the revelation of the divine but eventually, people will experience the world in a completely new way and directly know higher consciousness.

On August 24, 1921, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at a value of 63.9. By September 3, 1929, it had risen more than sixfold, touching 381.2. It would not regain this level for another 25 years. By the summer of 1929, it was clear that the economy was contracting, and the stock market went through a series of unsettling price declines. These declines fed investor anxiety, and events came to a head on October 24, 28, and 29 (known respectively as Black Thursday, Black Monday, and Black Tuesday).

In April 2011, longstanding opposition to a Tesco Express shop in Cheltenham Road, Stokes Croft, Bristol, evolved into a violent clash between opponents and police. The recently opened shopfront was heavily damaged, and police reported the seizure of petrol bombs.[150] Opponents have suggested that the shop would damage small shops and harm the character of the area.[151]
On Black Monday, the markets were a bit different than today. That’s the explanation that many market optimists like to offer when they explain why another Black Monday can’t happen. That is, the market cannot lose some 23% of its value in a single trading session. They might be right, but in the opposite direction. The markets now have human as well as computer input through so-called robot trading. They have more variables and are more complicated. But information and risks travel much faster. If anything, the risks of a major market crash are higher today.
I’ve been listening to psychic Lisa Caza’s 2018 predictions. The similarities with your predictions are uncanny. She makes one prediction about Big Ben being in the news this year but she could not be specific. That reminded me of your Big Ben prediction and the possibility that something really will happen to Big Ben this year, and what you saw may have nothing to do with the Grenfell Tower fire after all. I understand the clocktower is being repaired at the moment. Either the repairs could go wrong or a criminal posing as a builder could sabotage something. I wonder what you think.
“Investing isn’t rocket science,” says Janet Tyler Johnson, certified financial planner and president of JATAJ Wealth Management. “The keys to long-term investment success are globally diversifying your money, keeping costs low, and rebalancing your accounts as needed. And don’t forget the Golden Rule of investing – if you don’t understand it, don’t invest in it.”
Clear all your debts in 2018 and do whatever it takes even if you have to skip the daily coffee or even make a major property downsize. You have so much useful Jupiter action in your Eighth House and also that Nodal pass over your Fourth House of property, triggering your natural luck factors – that’s one green light after another. Watch what goes down in May, June 2018 and again in the opening months of 2019 as you are going to be buying and selling real estate in a completely different climate. Forget what used to be, or what you used to know. You are going to have a pretty wild ride through all this, but you will gain if you recognise Jupiter when he knocks on the door. He typically arrives as the right person you need, at the right time, in the right place. We can often be complacent about Jupiter moments, but they pass so quickly. Try to jump on whatever comes. And drop a coin in a wishing well.
The blogger who owns the Bad Money Advice site has put forward a post offering reasoned skepticism re the Valuation-Informed Indexing strategy. The title of the post is The Truth About the Shiller PE. Good stuff, Frank! Juicy Excerpt #1: "I do not know that Prof. Shiller has ever gone so far as to advocate that people use cyclically adjusted PE (CAPE) to make investment decisions." Juicy Excerpt #2: "Shiller does his best to warn people off relying on CAPE, saying that it 'has to be…
With the bankers' financial resources behind him, Whitney placed a bid to purchase a large block of shares in U.S. Steel at a price well above the current market. As traders watched, Whitney then placed similar bids on other "blue chip" stocks. This tactic was similar to one that had ended the Panic of 1907. It succeeded in halting the slide. The Dow Jones Industrial Average recovered, closing with it down only 6.38 points for the day. The rally continued on Friday, October 25, and the half day session on Saturday the 26th but, unlike 1907, the respite was only temporary.
Vashistha is among the latest in a long string of high-profile prognosticators to work in the financial world: Though the practice has ancient roots, it truly took off during the scientific revolution and has guided certain fiscal luminaries ever since. W.D. Gann, a financial astrologer born in Texas in 1875, became a legendary trader; even J.P. Morgan and Charles Schwab consulted astrologers, notably Evangeline Adams, throughout the early 20th century. "Millionaires don't need astrology—billionaires do," Morgan supposedly quipped.
A civil war over the election results? I can certainly see it. The endless efforts by certain governors and state legislators to manipulate voting laws and procedures for partisan advantage are part of the problem. The nation is more polarized than ever before into factions who have very dissimilar beliefs regarding what the actual facts are. The echo chambers of talk radio and cable television have much to do with why Americans are so severely divided. Political leaders including President Obama too often exploit situations instead of doing what’s right for America.
Over six terrifying, desperate days in October 1929, the fabulous fortune that Americans had built in stocks plunged with a fervor never seen before. At first, the drop seemed like a mistake, a mere glitch in the system. But as the decline gathered steam, so did the destruction. Over twenty-five billion dollars in individual wealth was lost, vanished gone. People watched their dreams fade before their very eyes. Investing in the stock market would never be the same.

Once a meme has been approved, it needs to be categorized. For example, do Hooded Kermit and Tea Kermit both count as Kermit Memes? Or are they separate entities with distinct trajectories and distinct NASDANQ values? The proposed solution here is something the team is calling a “three-market system”: multiple markets that exist under the NASDANQ umbrella. Memes will be distributed among these markets based on their particular characteristics. The three markets will include penny stocks (low-end, not very popular memes) text-based memes (where the text is always the same, but the image will change, i.e., the Rick Harrison Pawn shop meme) and image-based memes (opposite of text-based memes, like Hooded Kermit).
Jump up ^ Lambert, Richard (July 19, 2008). "Crashes, Bangs & Wallops". Financial Times. Retrieved September 30, 2008. At the turn of the 20th century stock market speculation was restricted to professionals, but the 1920s saw millions of 'ordinary Americans' investing in the New York Stock Exchange. By August 1929, brokers had lent small investors more than two-thirds of the face value of the stocks they were buying on margin – more than $8.5bn was out on loan.

I recently started a thread at the Early Retirement Extreme Forum titled Risk Revisited. Juicy Excerpt #1: I view the attitude toward risk that Kevin is describing (he is accurately describing the Buy-and-Hold approach) as exceedingly dangerous. In all other areas of life endeavor, we think of risk as something to be avoided. When it comes to investing, we think of risk as something to be sought out. I believe that this is why we are in an economic crisis today. We have taught millions of…

The economy had been growing for most of the Roaring Twenties. It was a technological golden age, as innovations such as the radio, automobile, aviation, telephone, and the power grid were deployed and adopted. Companies that had pioneered these advances, like Radio Corporation of America (RCA) and General Motors, saw their stocks soar. Financial corporations also did well, as Wall Street bankers floated mutual fund companies (then known as investment trusts) like the Goldman Sachs Trading Corporation. Investors were infatuated with the returns available in the stock market, especially by the use of leverage through margin debt.
These stocks are known as high beta stocks, as they outperform on the way up and underperform on the way down. During a bull market, these high beta stocks are often the stocks that perform best. As a result they will grow into the largest positions in your portfolio. That’s why it’s a good idea to rebalance your portfolio and make sure the weighting of these “high beta” stocks aren’t too high. Here some more ways to prepare for a stock market crash:
Thank you for this post! I have invested and believe in, the value, technology, and potential of cryptocurrency. I entered the market at a bad time (prices were almost at the all-time high). And although I have “lost” a considerable amount of money (due to the prices falling) …my belief in the technology has helped me weather the storm. Although I don’t know how far cryptocurrency will go during my lifetime, I believe it is the future for my son’s generation. Because I entered the market at not the best time, Ive been hesitant to invest any further, even though I would very much like to. I am hoping you can take a look at my chart and give me any insight in this matter, as my intuition is telling me this is a solid investment for my son’s future. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
(2) A key sign in 1998-99 that could relate to the arrival of the Antichrist was on April 23, 1998, (and also Feb. 23, 1999) when the planet Venus approached close to Jupiter in the sky. Jupiter relates to the Antichrist, because Jupiter and Thor (the Scandinavian equivalent) are said to control lightning and thunder, and the Antichrist is said to bring "fire down from heaven", which sounds like lightning. Venus having a close conjunction to Jupiter could mean Jupiter is "lit" by the close approach of Venus. There was a similar but much closer approach of Venus to Jupiter on June 17, 2 B.C., near the time of birth of Christ; the 2 planets actually appeared to merge in the sky. This could have accounted for the Star of Bethlehem legend; the 3 wise men were Astrologers, and such an unusual planetary conjunction would have had great significance for them. So, these similar conjunctions in 1998 and 1999, and on February 1 2008 a close approach of Venus and Jupiter to within .5 degree, could mean the Antichrist rose to power in 2000 and I think he is Russian President Putin. And note that on May 17, 2000 Venus and Jupiter also had a very close conjunction, only 4' apart, but were too close to the morning sun to be seen. And note that on Nov. 4, 2004, Venus passed within .6 degree of Jupiter. Also on July 1 2015 there was a close conjunction in the sky of Venus and Jupiter, and on on October 28 2015 a close conjunction of Venus, Jupiter, and Mars.
{+/-} This is the most important market indicator.  Major financial down turns have correlated remarkably well with Mars-Jupiter-Saturn aspects.  A brief history illustrates:  The three-planet cycle correctly indicated a correction near August and December 2007.  The next Mars-Jupiter-Saturn aspect was in January 2009, correctly predicting the Great Recession.  Mars-Jupiter-Saturn again formed an aspect with one another in August 2010.  The market did reach a yearly low (9686 DJIA) the week ending July 2.  March 2011 was the next alignment, which correlated with a severe market reversal in August dropping to 10,818, and briefly breaking this low the week ending September 23, before climbing right above 12,000 by the end of the year.  There was another Mars-Jupiter-Saturn aspect peaking in July 2013 but this produced null effects.  The next market downturn was expected near February 2017 triggered by Mars opposition Jupiter.  This was realized the week ending November 4, 2016 with a short but sharp downturn.
It truly does appear that the elements for a “perfect storm” are beginning to come together.  We have been enjoying a period of relative stability for so long that many Americans have allowed themselves to become lulled into a state of complacency.  That is a huge mistake, because all along we have been steamrolling toward disaster, and nothing has been done to alter our course.
JPMorgan’s Marko Kolanovic has previously concluded that the big shift away from actively managed investing -- through the rise of index funds, exchange-traded funds and quantitative-based trading strategies -- has escalated the danger of market disruptions. He and his colleagues wrote in a separate note Monday of the potential for a future “Great Liquidity Crisis.”
Regardless of the outcome of who starts what, Russia verses USA or visa versa their will be no nuclear war as nuclear weapons don’t work. A load of hype same as moon landing as no flesh can pass thru the Van Allen radiation belts and survive. More hype the earth turns at 1600 KPH but if you travel by plane East to West and return takes the same time for the same distance.
Set forth below is the text of a comment that I recently posted to the discussion thread for another blog entry at this site: Can we count on you for discussing the death threats and job threats over on this new board as well? I never lead with the death threats and the job threats. The substantive stuff is what matters most and people hate to hear about the death threats and the job threats. But as a society we have to deal with the death threats and job threats before the substantive stuff can get widely known. Shiller published his “revolutionary” (his word) research 37 years ago. The obvious question that anyone asks when someone tells them about the realities of stock investing is: “Why haven’t I heard about this before?” It’s not possible to explain the 37-year cover-up without making reference to the death threats and job threats. It’s not possible to pull something like this off without death threats and job threats. There are other things that help to explain the 37-year cover-up. Cognitive dissonance is a big one. The counter-intuitive nature of some of the realities. Just the fact that we don’t know it all. Ignorance. That’s a factor that should not be overlooked. I talk about that stuff. I don’t talk only about death threats and job threats. I never have and I never will. My job is to tell the story. Death threats and job threats are part of the story. So I will tell about them when necessary and to the extent necessary. I try not to put too much emphasis on them. Because they are not the entire story. I try to give them the right amount of attention, not too much and not too little. I wish that there had never been any death threats or job threats. But that’s not the world we live in. That’s not the reality. We don’t get fewer death threats and fewer job threats by ignoring them, by never talking about them. Ignoring them causes us to see more death threats and more job threats. I am 100 percent sure. Our problem has not been that we have talked too little about death threats and job threats. By not talking about those that have taken place, we have caused more of them to take place. Which is of course not the way that any of […]
Although we’ve seen more recognition of cryptocurrencies as investment vehicle, they’re still considered high-risk investments. Some see Bitcoin as safe-haven in case of a global crash due to its decentralized nature, the low correlation with the stock markets and the limited supply. Though, there is no reliable data available on how cryptocurrencies behave during a stock market crash. However, if you’re willing to take the risk, adding a small percentage of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency stocks to a diversified portfolio could be a worthwhile investment decision.

The Integritive Advisor, the quarterly journal of The Association for Integrative and Financial Life Planning, has published an article by me in its September issue. The article is entitled Humble Money Experts Are the Best Money Experts. I don’t know this much, if the grid is taken down, dileberately or not, once it goes down, it will trigger according to my scientits friend, The One Second After event. It will be like what i just posted. He said that this book, One second After is the actual research done on the effects of EMP and what to expect if the grid goes down. So we need to be ready. Any one without food and water is completely screwed. If the stock market is crashing right now, and we know it’s and engineered crahs involving Russia, China, and the US cabal, then we need to get ready.

The second biggest crash in global markets occurred in 2008. It was preceded by a housing market crash which led two Wall Street banks, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers declaring bankruptcy. By 2008 the world economy was so interconnected that the market crash led to a global financial crisis. Although it wasn’t the largest crash in percentage terms, it was the largest drop in terms of value in the history of the New York Stock Exchange.
After a very brief rally earlier in the week, stocks have been getting hammered again.  The S&P 500 has now fallen for 9 out of the last 11 trading sessions, and homebuilder stocks have now fallen for 19 of the last 22 trading sessions.  It was a “sea of red” on Thursday, and some of the stocks that are widely considered to be “economic bellwethers” were among those that got hit the hardest…

Sadly my feeling is that more lone nuts will continue to do the same type of thing for some time to come. Celebrity and the Rich and powerful Kidnappings will become a serious issue too. I am very hopeful though about outcome of the School attack in Pakistan: I predict that Nawaz Sharif will make a real effort now to rid Pakistan of terrorism and ordinary decent Muslims will become more vocal about enough being enough. As well as cooperation with Afghanistan I believe he will come to a compromise with India too and terrorism groups hiding out in Kashmir and Nepal will be disrupted.

6750 ft up on top of a mountain lends some perspective that’s for sure, The quiet is great for the sole. We still have to work during the week. On the weekends we work for ourselves, gathering firewood learning how to grow food etc. Freedom at least for me is eliminating the need for outside inputs. We have just enough solar power to be comfortable running our house. Woodstove for heat, well for our water. Growing some vegetables for food. Every year is easier than the year before.
Slingshot, you have me laughing, thats a good one. Hopefully i am not responsible for run on the ammo. Me like everyone else, has heard it from the horses mouth.
